But Jimmy's fortunes turn when Warden Mortimer (Christopher Plummer), an amateur playwright, asks Jimmy to recruit prisoners to act in a musical he's written and plans to stage in the prison's chapel. Realising that the chapel offers the perfect escape route, Jimmy throws himself into the job. But Jimmy's plan is threatened when the warden cast Jimmy as the leading man opposite the prison's beautiful psychologist, Annabel Sweep (Olivia Williams). Now Jimmy and the cast run the risk of being caught in both the stage's spotlight and the prison's searchlights!
